Hunting the Truth: Memoirs of Beate and Serge Klarsfeld, Beate Klarsfeld and Serge Klarsfeld, Farrar, Straus and Giroux 2018
The joint memoir of Beate and Serge Klarsfeld, the Franco-German husband-and-wife team who from the late 1960s onward built the modern documentary record of the deportation of the Jews of France ('Le Mémorial de la Déportation des Juifs de France'), tracked Nazi war criminals (Klaus Barbie in Bolivia, Kurt Lischka and Herbert Hagen in Germany, Alois Brunner in Syria, Maurice Papon and René Bousquet in France), and pressed for their extradition and trial. Serge Klarsfeld's father was deported from France to Auschwitz; together with his wife Beate, he spent decades hunting the men responsible, confronting Klaus Barbie, tracking Alois Brunner, and forcing France to confront its Vichy past.
