A joint study by Israeli historian Barry Rubin and German historian Wolfgang G. Schwanitz examining a lasting political alliance forged during the 1930s and 1940s among Third Reich leaders, Arab nationalists, and Muslim religious authorities, most notably Amin al-Husseini, the Mufti of Jerusalem. The authors argue that there is a high degree of ideological continuity between Nazism, radical Arab nationalism, and Islamism, and they trace the consequences of this wartime alliance for the modern Middle East.
