The Myth of the 20th Century, Alfred Rosenberg, 1930 (English Translation Reprint), Written by a Key Figure
Alfred Rosenberg (1893–1946), the Nazi Party's chief racial theorist, head of the NSDAP Office for Foreign Policy, editor of the Völkischer Beobachter, and later Reich Minister for the Occupied Eastern Territories, regarded this book as the ideological foundation of the National Socialist movement. Tried and executed at Nuremberg as a major war criminal in 1946.
Originally published in German as Der Mythus des 20. Jahrhunderts in 1930, the work advances a mixture of racist pseudo-science and mysticism, claiming Nordic-Aryan racial supremacy and arguing that racial history is the key to understanding civilisation, setting out a racial-mystical vision of history claiming a struggle between "Aryan" and "Semitic" world-principles. Alongside Mein Kampf, it was the canonical text of Nazi thought, selling over one million copies by 1944 under party promotion, and became one of the central doctrinal texts of National Socialism.
