Trial of the Major War Criminals before the International Military Tribunal, Volumes XXII and XXIII, IMT Nuremberg 1948–1949, Original Government Issue, Two-Volume Set
Two original government-issued volumes of the official 'Blue Series', the 42-volume record of the International Military Tribunal at Nuremberg, the institutional foundation of modern international criminal law. The trial itself ran from 14 November 1945 to 1 October 1946, in which 22 leading Nazis were tried for war crimes and crimes against humanity. Volume XXII contains the proceedings of 27 August – 1 October 1946 (closing speeches and judgement), published at Nuremberg in 1948. Volume XXIII is the Chronological and Subject Index, published at Nuremberg in 1949. Both volumes bear a stamp reading 'Property of the United States' with a government serial number, indicating official American government provenance. Issued in plain cardboard wrappers printed in blue with the IMT seal, scales of justice over a globe, and housed together in their original publisher's slipcase / shipping carton.
Condition: Good. Pre-1960 first-edition publications. Wear visible to the slipcase/shipping box, including some chipping and tears at the edges. The books themselves appear sound, with toned but uncreased wrappers. Government stamps to interior as noted. Interior fully readable throughout.
