Whitney R. Harris was there, seated at the prosecution table at Nuremberg, when the architects of the Nazi regime faced judgment for their crimes. Whitney R. Harris (1912–2010) was a U.S. Navy lieutenant commander and member of Justice Robert H. Jackson's American prosecution staff at Nuremberg, who personally took the pre-trial confession of Otto Ohlendorf (commander of Einsatzgruppe D) and helped prosecute Ernst Kaltenbrunner, and his book remains one of the most authoritative first-hand accounts of the trial of the major Nazi war criminals.
His account draws on trial transcripts and documents to chronicle Hitler's rise to power, Nazi war crimes, and crimes against humanity, and examines the legal precedents the Nuremberg process established for international law.
