Vichy Law and the Holocaust in France is the pioneering scholarly study of the legal underpinnings of Vichy France's anti-Jewish policy from 1940 to 1944, showing, on previously unexplored archives, how French legislators, civil servants, judges, and lawyers (most of them not coerced by the German occupier) drafted, interpreted, and enforced the Statut des Juifs and the broader "Aryanisation" decrees that stripped French and foreign Jews of their property, professions, and ultimately their lives.
