Hitler Speaks: A Series of Political Conversations with Adolf Hitler on his Real Aims, Hermann Rauschning, Thornton Butterworth, London 1939, First Edition !!!
Published in 1939, the year the war broke out, Rauschning's account of his alleged verbatim conversations with Hitler shaped Allied perceptions of the dictator's true intentions at a moment when little else was known. Hermann Rauschning, a former Senate President of the Free City of Danzig and an early Nazi who broke with the regime, presents what he claimed were political conversations with Hitler about his real aims and the future of Germany. The U.S. edition appeared the same year under the title The Voice of Destruction.
The historicity of these conversations was later seriously challenged by historian Wolfgang Hänel, who argued that Rauschning had met Hitler only a small number of times, and never alone. The book remains a major early documentary source on the Nazi worldview.
This copy carries a handwritten ink presentation inscription on the front free endpaper, dated 'Xmas 1939': "To my Friend & Colleague Lemuel Shatham with best wishes and many kind thoughts. Xmas 1939.", followed by a signature.

פורסם ב-1939, השנה שבה פרצה המלחמה, תיאורו של ראושנינג את שיחותיו הכבירות-כביכול עם היטלר עיצב את תפיסת בעלות הברית באשר לכוונותיו האמיתיות של הרודן, ברגע שבו היה ידוע מעט מאוד מלבד זאת. הרמן ראושנינג, נשיא לשעבר של הסנאט של העיר החופשית דנציג ונאצי מוקדם שניתק מהמשטר, מציג את מה שטען כי היו שיחות פוליטיות עם היטלר על מטרותיו האמיתיות ועל עתידה של גרמניה. המהדורה האמריקאית הופיעה באותה שנה תחת הכותרת The Voice of Destruction.
